I first learnt about the Paintball game from Hong Kong TV Serials (where else?)

In a short time span of 2 weeks, I have entered an Inception with the Despicable Me(s), made a Blood Pledge and even became the Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

Despicable Me was fun. Anyone who is looking to laugh away your work should catch the lovely light sticks in action. Both hilarious and heart-warming.

However, don’t ever make a Blood Pledge to die with your besties. This show is a Korean horror movie about 3 students who pledged to die together. The twist in this movie is most unpredictable as the story moves on to uncover why the pledge was formed. If you enjoy being scared, do go for it

And then, Sorcerer’s Apprentice is yet another Harry Potter/Percy Jackson except that we have the ever charming Nicholas Cage starring in it. =) The magician’s world is often brought up in the real world to let us indulge in some magical fantasy hardly able to come true.

So, eventually I woke up to reality or am I still shuffling in between levels of Inception. Which level am I at now? Would somebody please kick my chair and wake me up. Was the dream real? I heard some people asked. Who can conclude if the ending was real or he never woke up from the dream?

2 versions -

The totem didn’t topple.- Well, the show didn’t exactly show you a glimpse of the totem toppling over but some said it showed signs of it?

The faces of his children showing. - We recalled he said he regretted not waiting to see their faces and thus was never able to replicate their faces in his dreams.

Anyhow, the show is mind boggling that even the ending didn’t leave us without making us think further. Overall, it is a very good movie! =)

How can anyone miss out on food while travelling? As many people know, Hong Kong is well known for it’s Dim Sum (点心）, but there are also alot of local delicacies that everyone cannot wait to savour while in Hong Kong. Being an avid Hong Kong TV Drama Serial fan, I have seen alot of food appearing in different shows but never had the opportunity to try them. During this trip, I had the most unusual way of discovering more about Hong Kong food =)

Have you tried 猪骨粥 (blatantly translated: pork bones porridge) and 炒面 (fried noodles) as a breakfast combination?
Easily available at any 茶餐厅　（Ｃａｆｅ）, you can order their breakfast set which comes as a set. Who would have known that having both together could complement the taste and made such an ideal breakfast!

Locate the nearest 茶餐厅 near your hotel and look for their breakfast set, definitely not to be missed!

Price – HKD30
Food – Yummilicious!
Service – Fast, fast and fast! (I guess that’s how people in Hong Kong work)

Other food available too!

Prefer to have something else? Visit this popular breakfast place located in Jordan.

Australian Dairy Co.

Located near Jordan MTR – Address: 47 – 49 Parkes St

Long queue but waiting time is short.

Always identify your orders before you get seated as the people who take your orders are very impatient!

Must try! – Their milk dessert is what most people are there for, so be sure to try!

We located the nearest venue to our hotel at Tsim Sha Tsui, Harbour City’s Super Star Seafood Restaurant 鸿星海鲜酒楼. They have a few branches around. If you are at Hong Kong island, go to Times Square.
Nearest MTR – Tsim Sha Tsui

Important note: Dim Sum in Hong Kong is cheaper after 2pm as most restaurants have 50% off. Best to start your day early with a breakfast and starve all the way to 2pm. The price difference is huge!

On the 2nd day, we manage to survive till 2.30pm to have lunch at Federal Palace 联邦皇宫 at Citygate Outlet. Dim Sum for that day only cost about HKD200 for the 4 of us. That is quite a steal!
Nearest MTR – Tung Chung, it’s not near Kowloon but if you are doing shopping in that area, this is the best available Dim Sum.

Apology Statement for the 99% Sale Event

Reebonz’s 99% Sale Event created alot of awareness on the Internet with every single online or offline shopper talking about the much awaited sale. I had also received at least 3 e-Direct mailers from them inviting me to R.S.V.P for this event before 13th June. However, prior to the sale, Reebonz was already having website issues. It’s website had to be shut down for an upgrade due to it’s inability to cope with the massive amount of traffic.

Yesterday, 12th July at 4pm they launched their widely spread 99% sale and many customers had provided feedback that they did not even get a chance to login to Reebonz.com. As a result the event although a much talked about one had to be cancelled. With that, we take note that technical infrastructure is as important as creating publicity and that both should compliment to get the best customer experience for online shopping.

Out of goodwill (or perhaps they have really stocked up abit), they came up with the mentioned Apology Statement and a special offer for their very valued members. Read on…

Blog SEO Tips and Tricks Writing a blog is a major part of internet marketing. Writing one that helps a site’s SEO and traffic generation is a little bit trickier. Here are some blog SEO tips and tricks to increase both.

Core SEO Elements
When writing any blog entry, getting organic traffic requires good old fashioned SEO 101. This means writing proper title tags, description tags, and doing proper keyword research. Make sure whatever topic you pick, choose unique keywords to put into your title tag. Build the description tag in your post to target people who would want to read the material you are posting. And make sure you keep it all consistent and related – having a hot keyword-laden title tag that isn’t closely related to what your content is talking about will only make your readers mad. And if you happen to be using WordPress to write your blog, having a plugin such as the All in One SEO Pack can definitely help with these elements.

Frequency of Blog Posting
This is pretty straightforward, but writing more posts means getting more content on the web, and more doorways into your blog. The more frequently you write posts, the more often the search engine spiders will crawl your blog. This means faster publication of your content into the search engine results. And as you continue to add unique content to your blog, chances continually increase that your posts will contain hot topics that are searched for. As you produce quality content, there’s always a chance you’ll hit a hot button that is searched for more often than average. These “hot button” posts will not only increase traffic to your blog, but will also get you a good chance to get some link love and have other sites link back to your blog. This will help your SEO beyond just basic title and description tags.

Finding Blog Topics
So you want to add a lot of quality posts to your blog to help your SEO in several ways – how do you find material to write about? There are a lot of different options here.

* Branch off from your main topic by combining it with other popular subjects in different ways. For example, if you have a blog about dog training, combine it with the latest Hollywood stars. Perhaps a post about what the actors known to have puppies or dogs do to train their dogs. There is no limit to different topics you can come up with for your blog in this way.

* Look into the latest hot trends. Using a tool like Google Trends can clue you into what people are currently interested in, relating to your market. Writing posts about the latest hot topics can sometimes get you immense traffic. Make sure to tie your SEO elements to take advantage of these topics if you choose this route.

* Check the news. Look at CNN, BBC, or your favorite news source. Find what the latest news is that you can tie to your blog, then write a post related to that. You can use the subject combination method as well as taking advantage of SEO keyword opportunities here.

* Look for guest bloggers. This is an option you can use to help get more content without worrying about writing all of it yourself. Just make sure you keep the content that’s written for your blog relevant and high quality – not all guest bloggers are perfect for your blog. But you just might find a few.

These are just a few of the ways you can come up with different topics and ways to create content for your blog. Find good unique keywords related to these and you can make posts that will jump traffic to your blog. But these aren’t the only things to think about when tweaking your blog for SEO.

Keep Away From Cheap Tricks
There are a few SEO “tricks” that have been done in the past that worked to some extent, but some of these no longer function or may even have adverse effects on your blog. Be careful about using these.

* Optimizing content for keyword presence. Putting your main keywords more heavily into the content will not help your ranking very much at all. But what it will do is make your posts read more awkwardly. It won’t help you with the search engines much at all, but it will help to dissuade people from reading your blog more often. Don’t waste your time with this one.

* Reciprocal linking. This was one of the biggest SEO “tricks” for a long time. However, the search engine algorithms are good enough that they can track reciprocal links. These will not help much at all. Ideally, you want one-way links to point back to your blog and blog posts, so finding these is still a good way to go.

* Huge link counts from your blog. You want to provide visitors will all sorts of tools and quality links, right? It’s good to do that. However, having hundreds of links from your main page is bad in two ways. It can be more confusing for your visitors who won’t easily know the best areas to focus on in your blog. And it also affects SEO in a bad way – the more links you have pulling away from your pages (especially your home page), the less “link juice” you have going to all of your linked blog post pages. By reducing the total number of links to only links that are quality, relevant, and important, this helps increase your ranking potential for every page on your blog.

Do proper SEO with your blog and stay away from ineffective methods and your blog will get quality traffic more often. Above all, just remember who you’re writing your blog for, and keep consistent with quality posts! Eric Gesinski works for Tulsa Marketing Online doing Tulsa Web design and Tulsa SEO.

It has become an annual event to visit Hong Kong during the Summer Sale Season and the excited us booked our air tickets 8 months ago just for this trip.
Always keep an eye on Jetstar.com for All Day, Every Day, Low Fares!

The day finally arrived where we boarded the 3hour+ flight and finally landed in Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).

Instead of taking the Airport Express and MTR, we preferred to take the Citybus which brings us all the way to Kowloon – Tsim Sha Tsui where our hotel is located.

How to get to Tsim Sha Tsui from HKIA

Look for the signage which reads “To City” (It’s the same direction as the Airport Express platform)

Facing the Airport Express, go to the right hand side, down the slope.

At the end of the slope, turn left and you will locate the CityFlyer Ticketing Booth.

Identify your destination, for me it was Tsim Sha Tsui. Paid HKD55 for a return ticket.

The bus has an area for you to place your baggages, so board on and have a safe trip to the hotel. =)

Journey to hotel took about 40min which is about 12 bus stops.

After alighting from the bus, turn left and walk to the back of the building and we arrived at Hotel Benito.

Hotel’s location is ideally located < 5 minutes walk away from Tsim Sha Tsui MTR (Exit B2)

Hotel Benito

Around the Hotel
Watsons is located just around the corner for you to shop for daily necessities you may have not prepared. A few shops away is the very popular Ichiban Snacks shop where you can buy popular Japanese snacks home! Right across the road you will be able to locate all tourist’s favourite dessert shop – 许留山。 Pop by for a refreshing dessert after a hot day out shopping!

Definitely not to be missed in this hot weather.

And of course, there are several food for joy around the hotel, one of which are the cafes (茶餐厅) which cater to my breakfast most of the days there.

Eclipse is the third novel to the Twilight Series written by Stephanie Meyer. I felt obliged to watch this movie since I had followed both the 2 movies, Twilight and New Moon before this. Personally, I felt that this part was the least exciting among all 4 novels. The story revolved around when Edward would eventually convert Bella into a vampire and how the good vampire and the werewolves combined forces to fight against evil.

What I can say is that every story has it climax and unfortunately Eclipse was a little bit not here nor there. This series talks about an evil female vampire who is out to hunt Bella down for revenge and thus created several newborn vampires and made use of them.

I would recommend you to watch it if you are interested in the actors/actresses or otherwise, just read the book

I’m really looking forward to the last part of this – The Breaking Dawn.

Background of the Twilight Series
Bella Swan, a 17 year old teenager moves from Phoenix, Arizona to Forks, Washington and finds her life in danger when she falls in love with a vampire, Edward Cullen. The story proceeds as she falls in love with him and got into all kinds of trouble because of him. There is also another character Jacob Black, Bella’s best friend who shares with her stories about the Tribe and the long feud between the Vampires and the Werewolves.

My friends and I are very fond of Shabu Shabu. There are actually different grades of Shabu restaurants around Singapore and this is one of the mid-range one.

They have 2 different classes of menu for their buffet

Business Class – priced at SGD23.90++

First Class with some higher grade of food like salmon – SGD5 addition

Soup bases available

Miso soup

Spicy miso

Paitian (pork ribs flavored)

Chicken

Tom Yam

My choice was Spicy miso + Paitian and it was yummy!

There was also a 2 hour restriction for this meal. We were actually timed! What happens is that into the last 30min of your meal, you are allowed to order everything else that you want and they will close your order after that. I was not allowed to even have my drink refilled after 1.5hours.

Yummy food that I tried

Squid

Pork belly

White fish

Mushrooms

Overcoming Pre Interview Jitters

Know your background: One of the things that has always amazed me when I interviewed candidates is how unprepared they were to discuss the information contained on their resume. If it is referenced on your resume you should be prepared to discuss it – no matter how long ago the work was performed. Review your achievements and study your resume before the interview; make sure you are prepared to discuss what you contributed in your professional roles. Knowing yourself will enable you to adeptly handle any questions regarding your contributions. Additionally, from your review, you will likely remember other things you did. Add these achievements to your arsenal as you prepare to provide the interviewer with really compelling details of your experiences.

Know the company: I don’t just mean that you should do a preliminary search on the website – although that is a good first step. Read some investor relations materials and also gain an understanding of the company’s mission and goals. If they have done something interesting that recently gained press exposure, make sure you are prepared to discuss current events. The more information you have, the better able you will be able to sustain a lively and interesting conversation with your interviewer. In addition, make sure you are aware of the market place competition and the company’s history.

Understand the role: Before going to any interview you should be fully acquainted with the parameters of the position and knowledgeable regarding current compensation levels for similar position titles within the industry. Be prepared to discuss things in your history that are directly connected to the position, including how your experience makes you qualified.

Prepare some questions: You should never leave an interview without asking some questions. Questions demonstrate your level of interest. More importantly though, good questions will help you evaluate the opportunity and gain a clearer understanding regarding a potential fit with your personal and professional goals.

Practice: Since practice does make perfect take the time to prepare for the interview. You might practice with a friend or conduct a mock interview with a coach. The practice will enable you to discuss your background and reveal highlights of your achievements in a succinct manner. Make sure you rehearse your answers to difficult or tricky questions so you are not caught off guard. It is ok to pause before answering questions presented by the interviewer to ensure that your answer is thoughtful.

Logistics: Make sure you bring several copies of your résumé on bond paper, know the name of the person with whom you will be interviewing, and the address and floor number of the company. Avoid lateness by leaving early to prevent unexpected delays. Have your interview attire (suit) ready to go the night before.

Good luck to your next Job Interview!
